I'll just make a provisional interest list for this idea to start with:

Let's see how many we get for this and take it from there.
I think the job of tournament director should definitely rotate unless someone is willing to take on the extra work. Basically, whoever did it for one cycle would have NO pressure to continue for the next if he didn't want to, and we could just take turns being tourney director to share the burden.
The current list of players is just one group. I'd probably play even with just one group to kick it off, but I think at least two would be better, since you then have the moving up or down motivation.
I also prefer the idea of 2 matches per cycle against each player and then having 2-month cycles.
