I have been playing some Party $10 LO8 SnGs to mix it up a little while I multitable ring games. So far my results have been very good; however I am having trouble taking 1st. I know that you want your results to cluster around 1sts and 3rd and unfortunately my results have been clustering around 2nds and 3rds.

I posted this question a little while ago in the Omaha section but there weren’t that many SnG players over there, so I though I would consult the experts. In a Limit SnG what do you do HU against a player who will call any bet and bet any time they are checked to?

In the LO8 SnGs the blinds are usually 250/500 or 500/1000 by the time it gets HU so if I surrender 2 rounds (SB and BB) my stack will be almost 1/4ed. Against these guys I feel like I am in a game of chicken and I always lose because I am willing to blink first.

The way these HU experiences go is this. We both come in with around 4K in chips, then I fold some garbage in the SB, and fold to his flop bet when I am in the BB. Now I have 3.3K chips and he has 4.7K chips. Now I pick up a good hand pre-flop, raise and miss the flop. He checks to me I check behind (there is no use betting here, he will call). I miss the turn and he bets and I fold. Now I have 2.7K chips and he has 5.3K chips. Now I pick up a good 1 way hand and bet all the way down just to be shown some garbage in the other direction and we split. Then I get blinded down a little more and finally pick up a hand and double up, unfortunately I had so few chips at that point that we end up back to about even. The we repeat this game until I don’t pick up that 2 way hand I and basically get blinded out.

This obviously isn’t working so I am looking for other strategies.

i have no experience with this at all, but my guess is that you need to consider what constitutes a hand worth showing down -- a pair and any low is great. mix it up with betting out and check-calling, and try to take advantage of position. did you see how he reacted to check-raising? this should slow down the automatic bets when you check.

if he's a true lag and was not just catching hands, he's basically making the result a coin flip. i don't think that there's much you can do. you have to showdown any decent hand and hope that you at least split. good play just makes it a crooked coinflip in your favor.
