about the later stages:

it worked fine for me when i tried it, before i also raised 2.5-3xBB.

i made a nice little move the other day: 5 or 6 handed, had a short stack and went all in twice in a row, everyone folded and i hand 8-9 BB then. next hand i was early with a weak hand, this time i only doubled the blinds and they folded again. guess that makes them believe you have AA or KK.

Wolf is correct, Harrington does recommend stealing in the middle stages of the SnG with minimum raises. I think the point here is that you get to a point where the blinds are more concerned with surviving than they are with pot odds. So if they have a hand, they're going to call or reraise you no matter if you've raised 2xBB, 3xBB or whatever. And if they don't have a hand, they're going to fold no matter how much you've raised. So a 2xBB raise is sufficient to get the job done but cheap enough that you can get away from it if you get resistance.
