I have AKo in the BB and raise to 1200. He calls.

The flop comes T97 rainbow. What's my play and why? Should I have pushed pre-flop?

In the actual hand I bet half the pot on the flop, he pushed all-in, and I folded, thereby taking a HUGE chunk out of my stack. I figure his range is 99-QQ, AQ-AK. Since I have AK, I should have figured it's unlikely he also holds AQ-AK. Check-fold the flop? He's definitely not folding 99 or TT, and probably not JJ or QQ.

I guess I would have pushed here preflop with a small read.. I think betting $1200 is leaving you with 2300 in your stack and $2700 in the pot. If you are gonna bet might as well go all the way and see all 5 flopcards.

If I thought it was a tricky player I would have just called and see what the flop is for $400 instead of $1200. Any A or K I would move in. No A or K I would see what he does and get away from the hand with still a healthy stack.

Tommy - I like your line here. I didn't consider what the pot size would be if he called. All I knew was I still had a decent stack if he called and I missed the flop.
