Well this play is standard. I took a chance on a hit or miss hand and it was checked to me. I felt if anyone had liked it, they would have bet so I felt my hand was at least good at the moment and was happy to just take it down. But it got me thinking, what do I do if I got action here? If the preflop raiser bets out instead, do I raise him? call? Fold?

If i get check raised, i'm willing to let it go but what if I bet and get called? I'm trying to open up my game to include these situations but I want some input out how you continue with these hands.

a lot of this is read dependent. the fold to flop/turn bet stat is useful here.

i call and reevaluate on the turn. i like my position.

yeah, i fold unless i have a read that the guy overplays weak hands.


bet and call

also reevaluate on the turn -- your position is awesome here. on the turn, i'd assume my hand was good until villain gave me some reason to doubt that. if the turn bet is also called, i'd likely take the free showdown if it was offered to me. there are some cases when you should bet to make a stronger flush (but still weak) fold, but that is really a finesse read, imo.
