So true. SO TRUE. This weekend I was playing in an invite freeroll I get into every month. It's a nice deal. $12K, only about 100 players, twenty spots paid. But enough bragging. Oh, wait.
A third to half the players don't show (everyone gets autoregistered) each month, so my activity during the first third of the tourney usually involves stealing their blinds as often as I can get away with.
Last time, I shit you not, 6 players were AFK till I busted out. I don't know what happened then, I was too busy swearing and throwing things. You see, I did everything right, and got murdered anyway.
I was raising like a crazy fool, every second hand, maybe as often as 2/3 of the pots. And the other 3 players were letting me do it. These idiots, who must have been first timers or something, just didnt realize the other dudes were AFK, or that they were giving me everything by not stealing first. So instead, THEY WERE PLAYING AT EACH OTHER. Yea, that's right, with 6 players folding every hand, these rocket scientists were trying to steal EACH OTHER'S BLINDS. They didn't touch mine, since I was playing the total loon. Instead I just got reraised every fifth hand or so. Hmm, let's see, I put in 300 chips to steal 150 and succeed 4/5 times on average... why would I bother caring about your pathetic little trap/bluff reraise.
But anyway, the reraise percentage rose, and I saw a grand, glorious opportunity in the offing. You see, it became fairly obvious that they were beginning to see me as an opportunity, not a risk. I never called the reraises, since I didn't have to.
Then I got dealt JJ, and reraised by a chucklehead who kept trying to steal from a pathological overprotector-- he pushed allin with A7o and caught his ace (he had me covered by virtue of an earlier coinflip win over another of these morons). Bully for him.
Relevance:
He said "Sorry, you were raising like every hand".
I was half crying and half laughing at his stupidity, and his luck.
