PLO8 on Party -- what am I doing??

Dabbled a bit in the $50 PLO8 on party, together with Phil and Tom. There were two hands where I was pretty clueless where I was in the hand and how to play them. From memory:

Hand 1. I have [Kc][6d][2h] in MP and limp. Few more limpers. Five see the flop.
Flop: A53 with two diamonds. I lead for the pot and get called in three spots, one of which is a shortstack with $3 left.
Turn is a brick J. Shortstack checks to me, I bet $3, one fold, LP calls, shortstack calls allin.
River: A. I check, LP bets $11, I make a confusion call but lose to A2d48d.

Now when I didn't get raised on the flop I figured that someone with a naked 24 could be afraid of losing to redraws and therefore play it slower. But when my weak turn bet got called, I didn't think 24 was too likely. Mistake? Also, what's my opponent's reason for not raising (he has a redraw after all)? Because he suspect his diamonds are dead? Is it to lure others in or to get paid on the river?
Anyway, I guess the river is a fold, right?

Hand 2. I have [Ah][Qc][2h] and raise in MP. LP calls.
Flop: Q86, two diamonds. I bet pot, LP calls.
Turn: offsuit T. I check, opponent checks behind.
River: offsuit 7. I check, opponent bets 1/2 pot, I call and get quartered by A882.

Bet turn? What should I put him on? Why is he not raising the flop or betting the turn?

In the first hand, I think the way you played it you have to call the river. As you said, 2-4 is extremely unlikely, meaning that you have at least half the pot, and often times will scoop. An alternative line would be to check-call the flop and then try to figure out where you're at based on the turn action (you check again and see what the other guy does) or just take your chances and check-raise the max on the flop. I would often c-r the max against an aggressive player.


In the second hand, I think your line is OK, but I'd raise the max on the river, and I would probably also have bet the max on the turn as well. You ran into a perfect flop for your opponent's hand, but be careful not to generalize this situation based on the results of this one hand---most of the time, you will be way ahead throughout this hand.
