I would describe this guy as maniac, and his range could be AAxx, A2xxs, AQxx, 23xx... who knows. Whenever he's in a hand, he generally pots every street.

I threw a feeler on the flop to try to determine hand strengths.

Hand one is just silly for all the reasons others have stated.

hand 2... that's a bit more difficult. i think it's a bit cavalier to play that hand OOP, but maybe it's OK when you have a passive table if you think you can work the pot to your advantage if you flop an A.

as for the line, i don't think it's quite as bad as some make it out to be. if the guy is too aggressive (i'd really like some more stats on this) and bets regardless of whether he has a hand or not, then calling down can actually be the right play. you were on the receiving end of his overplays (this time).

in order to make this play, however, you need to know that he'll reward you with his stack a fair bit -- some players seem to overplay their hands often but actually have a decent hand more often than not. it's really hard to tell from your description whether this is one of the handful of players that a passive line is appropriate against. folding the turn or "making a stand" against a loose player by pushing the turn are more standard lines, imo.
