I don't think there's an official number set for bad beats on how much of a favorite you need to be for it to qualify when you lose. Some people seem to think that losing with QQ against AK all-in preflop is a bad beat. I'm pretty sure being 88% favorite and losing qualifies though.

Actually... we really should have a rule... what about 80%? That's losing all-in preflop against a smaller pair, I think everyone agrees that is a bad beat, but KK vs AK (70%) isn't really much to talk about. I vote for 75 or 80%.

I'd say it's a bad beat if you are a 90% favorite after the flop. Especially if accompanied by hideous play.

Such as my last hand hand at Tribeca:

Solid player raises strong. I call on button with . EP limper calls.

Flop is . Limper leads out. PF raiser raises. I re-raise big. Limper thinks for awhile then makes the call. PF raiser folds (Afterwards he said he folded KK).

Turn is . Limper insta-pushes.
