Interesting hand from this morning

I can't get any of the converters to take this one, so you'll have to live with it. Villian here had been raising quite a few hands pre-flop but I hadn't seen him really get out of line postflop - most of those were multiway pots postflop, so he might have been more aggressive heads-up.

I was playing Omaha last night and this morning to finish off my Empire bonus after a brutal drubbing in $1/$2 6max, so I wasn't raising anything pre-flop - just see the flop as cheaply as possible and go from there.

Now I've got top set + small flush draw against a possible straight (and my gut instinct at the time was that he had it). There's a good chance I've got the best hand here. If he's got the straight, I've got a lot of outs on the river (assuming my FD is live). The worst possible hand he could have is a straight + higher flush draw...

I don't think just calling is really an option, since I'd have about $7 behind in a near $50 pot, and there's nothing that could hit on the river that would make me fold top set with those numbers. So, it's either push or fold.

your decision is on the flop. If you are gonna call the flop and get pretty much your best card on the turn, you can't fold now. Does he CB a lot when he raises preflop even on a flop like this without the straight? He could have AA with nut flush draw and you just sucked out. Read dependent but i'm not folding that turn if I see it.

If this is the raisor I know from UB, then there's no way I'm folding. He's a regular at the $400's and $1000s, and occasionally likes to show off at the lower games, where he thinks he can bully everyone around.

On the turn it doesn't really matter; you're only in bad shape if he has both a straight and a better flush draw, but more often than not you have excellent odds to call. The remaining $7 is going in regardless on the river. Note that if you didn't have a set of kings (and thus showdown value) you should just call. Occasionally you'll find your opponent has a big draw and folds to a tiny river bet when he misses everything.

However, your flop play is the interesting part of the hand. Anyone else who finds a flat call dubious here? Surely you can't call a pot bet with just a 9hi flush draw there? I'm not sure if this is the board to float with the intention of taking it down later... I guess against most opponents I fold the flop. Even against an overaggressive player with a completely random hand you're not too much of a favorite...
