$2/$4 NL 5 max

I open raise to $14 with [6h]

[5h]. The button and BB both call

Pot $44. Flop [6c]

[6d][8s] BB checks, I check (mistake #1), button bets $30. BB folds.I call. I see no reason to check raise now. I have AK right?

Pot $104. Turn [9h]

. I check (mistake #2) The board is getting too drawy. Im going to lose my customer. If he bets, Im check raising....of course he checks.

Pot $104. Turn [7c]

. UGH!!!!!. Im an idiot. I check and he bets $100.

Actually I don't see how that 7 could have hit him unless he has 77, in which case he would probably bet smaller. Awfully played of course but not that hard a call on the river.

Hm, definitely a weird way to play it, but it's not that hard of a call on the river. You fear a boat or a T to make him a higher straight, since you have the low end of the straight. I kind of like how you completely deceived him, with a huge flop like that your only chance to make money might be to let him bluff.

I understand that you can continue to show strength after the flop even if you don't hit. But in general, you'll be behind the opp who called u in the first place. So I'm asking what are the chances of you actually hitting something that will throw off the opp who was initially ahead of you?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is a bad play, but I just have some doubts I'd like to straighten out.

I actually started trying this out. But I haven't seen enough hands to make any analysis and form a conclusion. I'll make a new PT db soon so I can see the results more clearly.

and you'll see that Im very profitable when I raise suited connectors. Much more so that I am when I limp with them. You have to play pretty well post flop to make these work though. This particular hand is not an example of playing well post flop, although it worked out for me this time.

Yup, that happens rather often I noticed. So for the moment I'm conservative on playing those hands.
