PLO $50 - Two hands

Postby Stoneburg » Thu Aug 03, 2006 1:58 pm

Ok, taking some advice I decided to move up to the 50's. I set a stop loss at two buyins to insure myself and had one PLO $50 table running with my 3 PLO $25's. Table seemed marginally tighter than the 25's and people seemed more aggressive, both pre and post flop. Usually only 1 or 2 *real* fishes at the table (vpip >65). Felt a bit ambivalent playing these.

******* Hand 1 ********

Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
9 players

Stack sizes:
UTG: $206.82
UTG+1: $49.50
MP1: $49.50
MP2: $59.75
MP3: $27.16
Hero: $51.65
Button: $35.45
SB: $67.26
BB: $82.95

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is CO with [8d] [Qs] [Qc] [3h]
UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, Hero calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB checks.

Flop: [Ks] [Qd] [Ts] ($3.5, 7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks, Button checks.

Turn: [Tc] ($3.5, 7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, MP3 checks, Hero bets $2, Button calls, 2 folds, UTG calls, MP1 folds, MP3 calls.

River: [Ac] ($11.5, 4 players)
UTG checks, MP3 bets $2.99, Hero raises to $19.92

In late position I limp with QQ no matter what the side cards, in EP and MP I dump it. I can't really bet that flop can I? His river bet looks like a blocking bet, I figure he has a T, maybe KT or AT. Standard to make a pot raise there?

******* Hand 2 ********

Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $0.25/$0.50
8 players

Stack sizes:
UTG: $22.55
BB: $82.95
UTG+1: $165.29
MP1: $64.40
MP2: $48.97
CO: $15
Button: $48.75
Hero: $46.75
BB: $35.53

Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is SB with [6s] [4c] [Tc] [9s]
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, CO (poster) checks, Button calls, Hero calls, BB (poster) checks.

Flop: [Jd] [8s] [7h] ($2.5, 5 players)
Hero bets $2.4, BB calls, 2 folds, Button calls.

Turn: [9h] ($9.7, 3 players)
Hero bets $9.25, BB folds, Button raises to $37, Hero folds.

No real read on villain. I fear he called me with the nuts on the flop. I don't think I can check the turn but with no re-draw and a higher straight now available I feel I have to fold to his raise. Good or bad bet/fold?

hand 1 - read dependent to bet that flop in position. are they straight forward or is a check raise really likely here? if not, i like a bet to buy a free river card if you feel you need it. i agree to raise the river less.

hand 2 - i usually don't lead into many people, even with the nut straight. I'm either check calling looking for a good turn or check raising, especially if I have redraws.

Hand #1 he had:
[As] [Ad] [7s] [2s]

So he was drawing to the flush, on a paired board with a blocker in his hand, but hit one of his only two real outs and then... he just *called* my raise on the river. Guess he was afraid of quads.

I *really* read it as a blocking bet and figured that AT was by far the most likely hand. :?
