For the first time in recent memory, I sat down at a full ring PL Omaha 8 game. I had forgotten how bad the play was and how boring folding can be.
In my normal PL Omaha hi $50 6 handed game, I come in raising about 20%-30% of the time depending on table personnel. At the table last night, I was trying a technique suggested to me by another player. It is a conservative approach that he has successfully used at Party. Basically, it is no raise preflop and no raising or reraising until the turn unless obviously dictated by the cards.
The play was just as he said it would be at the PL 200 table. People will try to steamroll you and get their money in bad with you.
At the PL Omaha hi 6 handed tables, I suffer the affects of playing the high variance game. I do make money but the swings can be large. I do not play for money but for entertainment so a 10x buying swing one way or the other doesnt change my dinner plans.
Now for the problem that this created for me. I have to decide what is more entertaining, watching people give me their money (PLO8) or playing a highly volital game with a high action element (PLOhi - 6 handed).
