For those of you that have read SS II. Do you think Doyles system for NLHE will work at the lower levels on line? $25, $50 and $100.

I think you will get called to many times to pick up the little pots limiting your chances to chase the big pots that would be free rolls using his system.

Has anyone changed there game since reading his NL chapter? Is it working for you?

Thanks
Kowboy

I agree with you. I love reading that section of Doyle's book, but cannot imagine it working at little tables. He is playing folks who are really thinking hard about what he is doing. I am not an expert of course, just concurring with your opinion.

I'm not an expert either, far from it, but for me it works (I usually play 6-handed $100).

After reading Doyle I started to get more aggressive, especially when I'm in position. I'll pick up a lot of small pots by betting out after the flop, regardless of if I hit or not. I (ideally) have no problems in backing off if I get opposition and have nothing. If I have outs, I'll take a stab at the pot. Often ppl will fold or at least the field will thin out, which makes it easiier to win. If the bet is between 70-100% of the pot ppl can't call with nothing. If they have something they'll call, but since my inital investment isn't that big, I can fold without losing too much or if I hit I can score big.

IMHO it is another thing than the "I can have a free shot at the big pot because I won all these small ones" that is making it profitable, it is since you give action, you get action. The more perceptive players will pick up on your tendency to bet out with more or less anyhing and will therefore be inclined to call you with worse hands. The less perceptive ones will not pick up on it, but they will probably be playing their own cards, which means that you can scare them off when they don't have anything or weak pairs etc.
My $0.02,

Thanks for the reply's!

I understand what your saying gnuffe. I can see it working short handed that the $100 table.

Are you raising pre flop then betting the pot post flop when you make this play?

interesting to read of someone who is actually trying this in smaller ring games online gnuffe. i am not even playing $100 NL though. occasionaly on cryptos as that is their minimum.

kowboy, your comment about there being two doyles at the table made me think of the final table at hmmmmmmmmm, the 2nd or 3rd WPT event of the new season. it was more like having several gus hansens, but between Arieh, Negraneau, David Williams and Phil Ivey, everyone was betting strong with jack****, and noone believed anyone else had a hand. it was fun to watch.

i am very aggressive at times in MTTs, and when there are others like that at the table, it seems to me that the one who is best at post flop play usually wins the pissing contest and gets to be the table captain. does that make any sense?
