i usually BTP except pf and on the river. on the flop and turn anything less than a full-pot bet is usually giving decent odds to draws (esp. if it's a loose-passive table and an early caller can be fairly certain that people will call behind him). pf and river allow for some poker to be played.

Well, betting the pot makes you harder to read (is he on a draw? does he already have the nuts?), but varying your bets can save you money when on a draw or semi/flat out bluffing. Of course, that can also cost you money or be used as a tell against you if you aren't inconsistent enough.The correct answer is 'it depends', but when in doubt, a pot bet is rarely a big mistake.

don't open-raise from UTG -- look for a reraise if you can get enough of your stack in so that you can be all-in on the flop.

you love this flop... since you pfr go ahead and bet it. you've got backdoor draws out the yin-yang and only top set is going to like his hand (theoretically).
