How's this line? Tribeca $200 6 max

Villian is pretty loose preflop. He's been calling alot of preflop raises as well as the flop CB, but will usually give it up if someone bets again on the turn. He has $300 and I have $220.

I am UTG+1 and open raise it to $8 w/ [Js]. Villian calls OTB.

Flop: ($18) [7s][5s] I lead out for $15, he calls.

Turn: ($48) I chk, he bets $25. I push all in and he folds.


Was that push an unnecessary risk? Am I better off betting that turn? It worked out here, but I'm not so sure if my play was correct.

Hmmm.....I think i should have chk/raised to like $85 or something. It would probably have the same effect, and then I can go from there.

I probably wouldnt raise this out of position, exactly because it puts you in the position you were in here. If you have position on him, you have more options on the turn.

Also, if your read is that he gives up on the turn alot, then this is the perfect spot to semi bluff the turn. He will fold most of the time and you have a lot of outs when he doesnt.

I don't get it for a couple reasons

1. your CR is a huge overbet. so unless you play a set this way and he knows it I wouldn't do it

2. as you said, he folds to a second barrel a lot. I just fire again on the turn. I have outs and most likely he folds, if not then I hope for a spade on the river.

If you have a good read on you opponent then I understand this play.

HOwever, I think doing this at Tribeca is suicide. I routinely push that turn with a set and get called 75% of the time.
