Ice makes adjustments...graph

Postby iceman5 » Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:33 pm

After posting that last graph where I started to freefall and lose my confidence, I went back and looked at a bunch of hands that I thought I screwed up. I was surprised to find almost $4K in stupid calls and stupid bluffs. I was down 5.3 buy ins during that little stretch and found 4 buy ins worth of horrible plays. I was shocked but set my mind to put an end to it. I wasnt being outplayed. I was just playing like a fool. So I cut WAY back on bluffing and tightened up a bit with both my VIP and my prefliop raising %. I had a long talk with T-Rod about going back to my tried and true Icey style of blasting people with my good hands. If they want to call a check raise on a A44 board with just A3, then I'll check raise the hell out of them when I have 45s, instead of trying to get them to fold when I have 22.

Anyway, here is a new chart. Its quite obvious where the adjustment took place on the chart just over the 7700 hand mark.

hey Ice how many tables do you play at any given time? you seem to have very good reads of players if you're doing more than 1-2 tables.
The better player should win the race. Always.

How many of us have seen ourselves do this time and time again? Amazing. Everytime you start losing, you go back and look over your hands and see where you fell prey to the dreaded

Mike Caro wrote about it years ago and it's been a proven theory over and over. Yet, even the best of us fall into the trap. I know I do with regularity.

However, this is also how you grow as a player. If you never get into FPS, you're never, ever going to be a top player. It's like a kid who pushes too far and has to get smacked when he does. He learns where the limits of behavior are and adjusts accordingly. Same thing with players. You learn something new, push it too far, get smacked, tighten up, but the experience allows you to play at a much more mature level.

Cool game, huh?

Nice post, iceman.

Maybe it's not so different from 2/4 and 3/6 after all? Sock it to 'em.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.

I think Jack's post was really good...it's true that you have to go through these FPS stages to grow...each time we come out of one, we're ALWAYS a better player than when we were winning before the FPS sliump.

Nice graph ice.

How many hours per day do you get to play? (maybe per month is a better question)

thanks and another question

Postby GeoC » Wed Aug 30, 2006 4:34 pm

from Ice:
(Yes, its PTBB just like Pokertracker.
So 6.4 PTBBs (when the BB is $10) is $128 / 100 hands.
The total winnings of 629 BB is really $12580)

Very nice.
I've done Ex's methodology, Miller's Short Stack, Roses Short Stack and lately BlackKnight's set mining strategy. I've been a (small winner) with all of these, but I'm ready to take the next step. I believe trying to mimic you as best I can will take my game to a higher level. I probably have a couple of years left at blackjack before it goes Nova, but 1 might as well start increasing my stakes now along with learning how to play real poker. Do you have a post or article that sums up your style?

Lastly what is your standard deviation per 100 from PT at the 5/10NL games?

Thanks,

-Geo
