ok,. I thought they could be played as long as your outs were fairly live. I had been tossing them but something on 2+2 made me start playing them. Time to reread Brusnon again I guess.

You know, I do pretty well in Stud/8 MTTs by really playing tight and only playing a high hand in extreme situations.

My Stud/8 ring results, on the other hand, aren't so good. And I know it's because I play a bit looser than I do in MTTs because ... well, I don't know why. But I can't help myself sometimes. I don't play high straights or flushes, but sometimes I have a hard time throwing away high pairs or mucking fourth when I brick. And once I take those hands into fifth street, it's damn near impossible for me to throw them away even if I suspect I'm behind.

That's one reason why I don't like Pete's strategy on the high draws. It's too easy to get committed to them and fall into the trap of throwing away good money on a bad chase.

I would love to be able to sit down at a Stud/8 table and force myself to only play low hands, like I do in tourneys. Thanks for bringing that up, DF, because it just helped me realize a big leak in my ring game.
