50NL I totally screwed up this hand

I so should not have called the river...I have been trying to lead out aggressively with pocket pairs like this, betting the flop as if I have a set, which works a decent portion of the time when everyone folds. My problem is the next two streets when someone calls the flop. How should I have played this?
