#2) Its not about another 40 hands so 80 or so total. I still dont think hes raised a flop and hasnt played any big pots. Hes treading water and has about $300. I cover.

I raise to $14 on the button with [8s]. He calls again in the BB.
Pot $30. Flop [Th][9d]. He checks, I bet $24 and he check raises to $54. Obviously I have a monster and I want to stack him, but I also want to showdown and see his cards if possible without losing too much EV. Whats my move?

Call, hope he puts you on a draw and fires at it. You hope that blanks hit on the turn and river so that he keeps putting pressure on an apparent drawing hand. If that works out, you may still not see his cards if you make a reraise after the river, so maybe you reraise after the turn hoping he has a set and will call off his stack.

I'd like to call here too but what if the K falls on the turn? Then you might lose any action. What if the board pairs on the turn? Now you may be WB. I dont think I can call here just to get to see his cards at showdown. I think I reraise and let him know I'm tired of ck/r crap and find a different spot to see his cards.

I would pop it up to maybe 150 or so, make him call a 100 more. If he's got a set he's not folding, and there are too many action killer cards on the turn if you check. If he's got top pair he'll prolly fold but its not like ur getting much more in that case anyways.

Re-raise. His most likely hand is a set which...

A) He won't fold
B) Has outs

Slowplaying straights is a big no-no in my book because they are so easily outdrawn. If a K, Q or 8 comes on the turn you could lose your action, if the board pairs you could be drawing dead (not "way behind" unless it's the or ).

I guess if you want to still preserve EV but see his cards, raise here and chk the turn and river.
