I wouldn't raise that much on the flop w/ a flush draw (if that's what you were trying to represent) with only $200 total to start the hand..

Yeah I thought the hand was pretty interesting as it was one were I knew my opponent was actually thinking about what I might have and do and also I knew he was very aware that I was doing the same. The game is always much more intriguing when you have history with your opposition and that opponent is someone that will take that information into account and try their best to act upon it. So far there has been very little of the multiple level of thinking stuff going on in the games I have participated in here.

For the first time I raised a small amount (7.00) with [Ah] [Ad] instead of limping or raising a larger amount preflop after UTG limp. I was UTG+1. In retrospect I don't like my small raise here and I was pretty sure that a larger raise would have cleared the table given my image at the time. I think a limp would have been the best play in this case. CJ calls my raise as well as two others and there is 30.00 in the pot on the flop of [9c] [7c] [3d]. UTG checked and I lead 20.00 into the pot and CJ raised me to 60.00 and all folded to me and I just called. I didn't put CJ on a flush draw here as I didn't really think he would raise that hand here as I very well may go back over the top and shut him out if I have a big hand. That was the reason I cold called as I really put him on a hand like 10 10 or J J and a set also crossed my mind as well here and decided to wait until the turn to see what developed. I also think in retrospect that a reraise by me would have been a better play in case he had the flush draw and also in case an overcard came that would also kill my action probably unless I was beaten. The turn brought a [4c]. The pot was now approximately 150.00. I checked and CJ bet 100.00. I thought about the hand for a while here and still couldn't make myself believe Cj had the flush here and I didn't think he had a hand like [Ac] [Kc], [Ac] [Qc] as I believe he may have reraised me preflop with those so I figured that if a club came down on the river that I could make a move at the pot figuring CJ couldn't call even if he happened to have the flush on the turn which I didn't think he had but very well could of had 10 10 or J J with a club and have me beat if I checked it down. I called the 100 for a pot now of 350.00. The river brought the [Jc] , [4c] [7c] [9c] [3d] and I immediately bet 200.00 and CJ folded top two [Jd] [9d]. The main question perhaps is what I would have done had a club not fallen. We both had pretty big stacks with quite a bit of money left behind. If a rag had fallen off I might have made a defensive bet of 150.00 as I really did think I had the best hand but I certainly would not have wanted to call a 250-350.00 river bet.

Yeah, that's why I posted the hand. It's very rare to have this kind of poker played at the $1/$2 tables out here. Anyone else would have gone broke with either of these hands. It was fun, but pretty stressful. However, it's this kind of experience that makes you raise your game.

I made $600 last night at the same table, so it must be working a little. :)

Sure was hard to let go with that Jc falling on the river. Frustrating, but we both made great decisions.

Well done, Piers.
