MP limps, I raise to $20 with [Jd]. BB and limper call. BB is a maniac. When he had only $110 or so, he was pushing preflop alot. One hand he limped UTG with AT, there was a min raise and then a $34 reraise. He reraised all in and beat KK. Hes made several dumb plays but has calmed down since getting his stack to $420. I have him covered. No read on limper. Its his first hand

Pot $62 Flop [Qc][4d]. BB maniac leads $4, limper folds. I call. I didnt want to raise here because he is crazy enough to reraise with just about anything and I dont know if I will call or not.

Pot $70. Turn . He leads $4 again. I raise to $42 and he reraises all in. Its $342 to me. Call or fold?

2 points.

1) Why are you se ready to tell him what you have by raising the flop. This "I need to define my hand" mentality is wrong

2) The reason to raise the flop is to get more money in while youre ahead. Ideally you want him to call a raise that is slighty high enough to give him incorrect odds to chase whatever hes chasing. But if the guy is aggressive and crazy enough to make a huge bluff reraise, then you CANT raise every time youre in this spot. If I raise the flop and he makes a big reraise, I have to fold. I dont mind playing smallish pit against this type guy. Hes rarely going to hit the card he needs and when he does, Im not going to pay him off if he gets crazy. Theres nothing wrong with checking behind with TP against a maniac to keep the pot manageable. On the turn, I was willing to call a reraise which is why I raised his $4 bet.
