on the river i lose to 97 as well as 92. that leaves only 96, 94, and 93 as hands that i beat.
i think his range after the flop play is 9-x or 55.

i agree that i probably shoulda just folded the turn if i was going to fold the river. but you guys see what i'm saying.....the turn + river are pretty bad cards here, all things considered. and i see no reason to compound a small mistake by making a bigger one.

one of the things that has helped me a lot with tribeca is really trying to figure out when the morons catch a hand. its easy to say "oh he'll play this way with TT, too." but i really don't think he will. or, maybe he will on the flop and turn.....but man that river bet is TT like never. and as someone said earlier...flop play is donk-speak for "i have a 9."

but the most important point: if i make a mistake in calling the turn...that DOES NOT mean that i have to commit to calling the river. if i screw up for $10, i'd rather admit it, give up that $10, and put it behind me. it's not a good reason to throw away $30 more.

I think the turn action justifies the river. Raise the turn check the river. Call the turn call the river.

Simple as that.

Let me be clear.

He'll play the flop and turn exactly the same with A9 or TT.

He certainly won't play the river this way with TT but will with A9.


I think the best line is a raise somewhere earlier in the hand. Maybe even a flop reraise that will at least slowdown a TT so you get a cheap showdown.

I don't like in general the reasoning if you want to fold the river fold the turn. Every street you get additional information, so, for example, if villian can have TT and A9 when he bets turn we should call, but if we sure that he would check TT on the river and bet A9 we should fold the river (NOT THE TURN).
If we go to absurd using this reasoning you should just fold preflop or get it all-in depending on whether you think you beat the opponent or not.


Back to the hand. I don't like how he played it. Starting from a lack or preflop raise. I also would like to see a turn or flop raise. As played IMO river is a fold, this betting pattern of minbet-minraise on flop screams monster, milking bet on turn and larger on river make me sure he has it.
