AK on paired board facing river shove ($100NL 6-max)

$100NL 6-max @ Tribeca

1 EP limper, i raise OTB to $4 with [Ac][Kc]. BB calls, limper calls. BB is passive/bad, previously called my EP PF raise with A8o and called my flop bet on a AK9 flop.

flop: [As][4c][4h]
pot: $12

checks to me, i bet $10. BB thinks for a few seconds and calls, limper folds.

turn: [Qc]

pot: $32
checks to me...i bet $23, BB thinks for a bit longer and calls.

river: [Td].
pot: $96

BB thinks for 4 seconds and shoves. its $80 to me.

im obviously looking for river help, but also for turn advice now that i have outs against 4-x.

thanks,

jon

I would probably check the turn. Against 1 opponent I may even check the flop here sometimes, but that's another matter. Also, raise to $5 preflop.

As played, i think this is a fold. You've shown nothing but strength by raising preflop then betting the flop and turn hard, and he doesn't seem to care. Also, weak, weak, strength, as we've talked about in other threads, is more often than not a strong hand.

What do you beat here other than a complete bluff? Maybe Ax trying to push you off your own Ax because he thinks it's a split pot, but I don't think that's too likely. I think it's either 4x or AT, or a retardedly played [Kc] [Jc] perhaps.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

If BB is passive / bad then it's an easy river fold. He has a 4.

As I read the HH I thought I had a pretty good read on the hand but then got confused by the replies.

Trip 4s seem to be considered in the top of his possible range rather than toward the bottom where I'd but 4-x. After all what pocket cards call 4xbb pfr with a 4? Only a few come to mind [Ad] [4d] , [4d] [4s], and possibly K-4s unless he's really bad and plays any 2 suited icluding a 4. I don't totally discount trip or quad 4s but think A-T or A-Q are more likely than the 4-x options - although I would have expected a A-Q to make it's move on the turn.

Next confusion came with the suggestion of checking thru on the flop. Why in the world would you check-thru the flop? Seems to me if you're going to C-bet when you miss a flop, it becomes almost manditory to C-bet when you hit it square otherwise opps will pattern you for a missed board when you bet and a made hand when you don't! Checking thru the flop is slowplaying a vunerable hand as a hand like A-T can counterfeit your bottom pair (4-4) given the chance and when you have the likely best hand on the flop you should be building value into the pot. I would appreciate further explaination/insight on this recommendation.

As for my analysis of the hand - He's either pulling off a very ballsy bluff (weak-weak-strength = strong hand OR a ballsy bluff) or has hit a better two pair than Aces and 4s. Since he's passive rather than aggressive I'd lean toward him having a better hand than our hero so would fold. I would expect villian to have a better 2nd pair than trip or quad 4s but do not eliminate either having been slowplayed from flop to sd.
