My guess is he's got you on an overpair and thinks he can get you to fold, with his or giving him outs should you call.

"I have a set" on the flop, much less middle set, should almost never be followed by "oh crap" at Nl200 6max unless your against the ultraingest of calling station who goes nuts. Call pretty quickly.

He probably could have a straight or a small flush, but a lot of aggro players will make this play with Ace of hearts and a straight draw (A-9, A-7, A-4), maybe even 7-8 with the 7 of hearts.

I'd probably call - it looks like a semi-bluff for $185 into a pot of $37.
