Do i need to bet turn here?

im dealt in MP so i raise to 4BB(i vary my raises from 3.5 to 4BB..sometimes
i bet 4bb when i dont wanna get called(weak hands) or when i have a good holding but dont wanna get a family pot going
CO calls and BB calls..
flop is pot 12.5bb
i bet standard 9BB since flop is somewhat dry
CO calls and BB fold
turn is pot is 31bb and i bet 20bb
villain calls
river is pot is 70BB and i check..
villian bets pretty quckly 53 BB
he is 26/12/2.4
i have no special reads on him since he doesnt appear to be a regular
thoughts?
should i check turn and call river? did he hit his str8 on turn? did he have 77 and kept calling me?
