I prefer seeing a turn card before gatting too crazy. Your hand is not as strong as a set, you could be up against a flush for all you know. Just get more info on the turn.
I like a 2/3 pot 750 bet. I just see the "board pairs and someone shoves with the boat" too often.

Giving a free card in this spot if fine. If a 4th flush card hits the turn, we check / fold with no harm done.
Someone (I think it was TUP) did the EV calc on this situation and proved it was better to wait until the turn to bet and / or raise.
