I thought Pacific couldn't ever possibly be bettered for worst designed software I've ever seen but.... I was wrong
...
I'm still wanting to open an account because a lot of the Crypto 200 and 500 PLO fish have stuck with BetFair since it split from Crypto but ugh. Soft games almost don't make up for:
1) Stupid fact that the stick all the tables together in one big window (so you can't play more than two games at once if you have a small monitor, and can't split them if you want to move them around the screen or re-position them with other sites' tables).
2) Despite the fact that the "two table view" fills 80% of my monitor, the table, chips, cards and action buttons all seem to be hideously squashed together making life very difficult. There's a highly useless "information window" to the right of the table in the 2-table view which takes up tons of space pointlessly. being a multi-tabler, this means I'm never going to play more than 1 of these tables at once, so they've cleverly managed to lose potentially more than 50% of my business with this trainwreck of a design. Helpfully, if you play on the one table view you actually have to switch the table off to see the lobby, and then switch back to the table. Ngggggggg.... Oh, and if you try to change the number of tables visible mid-game, the window closes and re-opens another one about 15 seconds later, potentially folding your big hand the first time you inadvertently try it...
3) Colours are HORRIBLE and clash, making the chips and cards still harder to read.
4) Rather than highlighting people's location when you put the mouse on them, you have to go to the lobby to find out where people are from. Nghhhhh....
5) You can't stop the animation.
6) I can't see how to access hand histories, though that might just be me being dumb. Doesn't seem very user-friendly anyhow.
7) I couldn't open an account when I just tried now. The window just wouldn't do anything after I filled in my details.
8) The $150 signup bonus seems pretty poor - frees at about the same rate as a mediocre rake-back.
9) It defaults to holdem every time you open the lobby, annoying if you play any other game.
10) I can't seem to open any other games than omaha and holdem (maybe not available yet? But then they are on the menu so I dunno...)
Oh, and this is more of a personal thing
but two or three of my favourite irish LAG fish from the crypto 200 tables have stuck with Betfair (BetFair used to play on Crypto's pretty good software) and of late the Crypto 200 PLO action has dried up a little but (though I can still find good games, some of the fishies who'd play 2 or 3 tables on Crypto now only play the one on BF, so it reduces winning potential somewhat).
I'm not sure why they decided to move networks but all I can say is UGH. I just thought I'd post because I couldn't believe it was possible to design such a horrible interface - rather like Pacific, I look at it and just assume that whoever came up with it has never played internet poker, and if they did playtest it (which I doubt) they presumably asked the testers "right, is there any way we can make this software any worse
?"....
I know it's new, though (Pacific have no such excuse!) and so hopefully a lot of the glitches will be ironed out in time but it seems to me they've tried to re-invent the wheel and basically butchered it.
