I know this isn’t exactly a very interesting hand, but there is a reason why I posted it! Oh yes, I think. The reason quite simply is to do with chasing draws when the board pairs. As in the above hand I had my opponent on a draw and checked the turn hoping to let him hang himself on a later street.

For any mathematical geniuses out there I would be interested in hearing how badly odds/percentages are changed when the board pairs against a draw. I have basic figures racing around my head, but as for doing the hardcore research, well there is only so much my head can withstand.

Not betting at least half the pot on the turn is very bad.
If he has a K it will be easier to put in the rest of the money on the river, if he has a draw you'll get more in cases that he misses it and folds on the river, if he has a pair it is still easier to put more money in the pot by betting the turn. So betting the turn is a no brainer here.

P.S. IMO it is such a basic thing even for a middle stackes player that I really wonder.

Both strategies can be excuted with the same results, ie stacking your opponent. Which strategy is excuted should be based on how you are perceived and your opponents playing tendancies.

In this instance, my opponent is somewhat LP-P but funny enough is a winner overall on my PT. He knows me and knows my game is LAA, im known to call and raise alot of hands PF and continue to put my opponent to decisions.

Some of my posts will come across a little "gamblish", and i suppose i cant deny that fact. Though gambling is a skill and a very important one, and in most cases can be justified by overlay. I dont like to play text book style too often, especially at higher limits where opponents are more knowledgable. Saying this i also study the game more then most, and am an avid reader of books and online articles. I think its why this forum caught my eye, seems to be a lot of interesting mid and even low stake players here who are very knowledgable.
