mute made some comment a while back that all of your hands played are a function of your winrate. it doesn't matter whether you're drunk, tilting, playing solid, playing SHed, or whatever. you're going to have these kinds of sitations occassionaly during your "one long session", so you should count it. while i agree with this, i think there's something to be said for establishing winrates (or lossrates) for specific scenarios. i'll call this "earnrate" (ER) to differentiate it from WR.
calculating an ER might be useful if you want to see how you can maximize your earnings. as stated above, your winrate in SHed may be lower than FR, but your hourly might be the same or better. this needs to be accounted for somehow.
also, it may be possible that playing HU/SH is ev neutral or -ev for a certain player, BUT starting a game may allow for the player to get a 6-handed + game going in which he is +EV. at this point, he can compare his ER for shorthanded with his ER of FR and determine how long he should be willing to play SH (on average) before a game fills up to determine whether this is smart for him to do or not.
one stat i really want to know is what is my ER when playing "well" (i.e., not drunk) and FR (or 6max, or whatever). whatever my "regular" game is and regular state of mind (or range thereof) is, that is the critical ER to look at. other than that, everything else can be seen as metagame issues (don't drink and play if it's -ev) or groundwork (creating an environment that allows you to get your best ER -- like playing SH to get a FR game started).
not sure if this is clear -- i'm a bit tired at the moment -- but i wanted to throw it out there.
[edited cuz i'm a tard and there are still probably some mistakes]
