Hi,

I have been going through the hands in my PT database that I've played since the first of October. It isn't pretty, over 22500 hands I'm running at -2.14PTBB/100 (16000 hands at NL 200, the rest at NL100, 90% 6-max). I can find many errors in my big losing hands, mostly a tendency to push too late (at the turn when scare card arrrives) but I feel that this isn't the whole problem, I'm not getting paid off, or I miss opportunities. So, how do I do to find and plug these leaks? I tried to do some filters in PT that enabled me to see things like "PP, won without going to showdown), but it doesn't really do anything to help me.

Things I can do/should do, except try to find leaks hand by hand?

* Sign up for something like cardrunners.com
Is it worth it? Some of you seem to think so but I haven't seen any longer analysis.

* Record my whole sessions with commentary and replay them to myself, or even better, to someone else. This I will do, at least for my own, but it would be great to have someone to exchange videos and comments with. I need to get a microphone headset though.

* Anyone who has any good ideas on searches/filters I should do in PT?

I'l post my PT-stats below:

(I can't get the screenshot to show up properly w/ Photobucket so I'll just type it in.

Total Hands: 22,578

VP$IP: 20,02% (tightish)

W$WSF: 34,30% (OK?)

Amount Won ($1,964.80) (BAH)
Win Rate per 100 hands: ($8.70)
BB/100: (2.14)

Went to SD: 19,33% (Rather OK)
Won $ at SD: 47.91% (LOW)

PFR: 8.84% (?)

Aggression Factor (w/PF)
Preflop: 0.72
Flop: 6.00
Turn: 3.06
River: 3.29
Total: 1.38 (A bit low, esp turn/river)

Folded to River Bet: 73.09

Any other stats I should include?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

"#3 pencils and quadrille pads."
- Seymoure Cray (1925-1996) when asked what CAD tools he used to design the Cray I supercomputer; he also recommended using the back side of the pages so that the grid lines were not so dominant.

"Interesting - I use a Mac to help me design the next Cray."
- Seymoure Cray (1925-1996) when he was told that Apple Inc. had recently bought a Cray supercomputer to help them design the next Mac.

Personally as you're a 20/8 TAG @ $100 NL I would stay well away from Cardrunners.

If you get to $200 NL as as decent winner and find yourself moving towards LAG play then that's the time to look them up. Their method requires very good post-flop skills and players that often fold to your raises and bets (who don't really exist below $400 tables)

If you are a losing playeryou should definitely move down stakes until you find those you can beat. It is better to beat 5c/10c tables than be a small loser at 50c/$1 ones.

Your PFR is quite low, that might affect you not getting paid too well. You should aim for something like 12-13%.

Also I'm guessing you may not have a solid understanding of all aspects of position. You should post a screenshot of your PT position stats so we could look into it.

Also I completely disagree with Excession about Cardrunners. Their videos kick major ass. You just have to understand that you can't apply everything the instructors do in the high limit vids into small stakes.

I think card-runners style is perfectly suited for playing midstakes SHNLHE games on Stars/FTP/UB. They teach a sLAG style that can really mess with TAG and other sLAG players, which is the majority of regulars in these games. If you're going to play on a site like Tribeca or the such, the style would be pretty disasterous imo.

Also, Ex's idea of half-stacking and getting position on them and coming over the top of their 3bets would probably work, but, then you lose value against the other players on the table.

I would read this:

And also watch CR videos and apply that style if you want to win at the games I listed. If you want to learn how to beat donks, then post hands, play less agressive preflop, and just play your cards mostly and let them pay you off. Personally I would try and do both and mix up your play depending on your opponent, which would be optimal, but obviously more difficult and time consuming.
Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

When I play a patient and relaxed game I win - that simple.

Just a short note on Cardrunners: while some of the ideas and concepts are indeed tailored towards games where the opponents can fold a hand, there have been some good videos about the $100 games on stars (ActionDJ, who plays a very TAG style) and on UB (Aislephive, more LAG). If you play on those sites, those will certainly help you.
At any rate, CR helped me quite a bit - hard to say what % of $$ earned is due to them, but at least it gave me new ideas about possible strategies, leaks, opportunities, etc.
