I was trying out the 6 max games at Stars (I recently signed up). It didn't seem like most of the players were used to playing the 6 max games and there seemed to be a good number of nits, even at the $50plo games. I ran across one guy that was outdoing himself with aggression and taking advantage of the play. He had position on me at 2 tables and was buying a lot of pots. In fact the guy had won 5 of the last 6 pots just by betting and being aggressive.
I get dealt in the BB. A monster. The aggro ( 80/43 ) limps from UTG+1 making it hard to put him on, well, much of anything. (I saw him pot TT32ss from the SB, he didn't need much to raise). SB limped, I checked and everyone else folded.
Flop comes
After I clean my shorts with the monster I have I check after SB does the same. Aggro bets $1 into an approx $1.50 pot. SB folds so it's HU. I take my monster and raise $2.50 (a little less than pot, but that's what I had been doing with my monsters since everyone was playing so passively). As you can obviously tell, I tried to just take the pot from him since it was rare for him not to make a full pot bet. If he has anything, he will repot back. He had been doing that with hands as small as an overpair with a backdoor draw. He called.
Turn comes a
I now have a pair (although I didn't notice it cause I knew my hand was garbage) and a crappy flush draw. I bet $5 into like the $8 pot, like I said, cause that's what I had been doing with my monsters. Value bet you know. He merely calls.
River comes a
I missed my flush but I figure he has to have something there to call on 2 streets. Again, I didn't notice the 3 at first that I have 2 pair since I wasn't trying to play my cards, just outplay my opponent. Being OOP and a pussy, I just check. Him having an aggro factor on the river of 9, bets full pot instantly of $17.60. It's at this point that I finally realize I had 2 pair and go into the tank.
Call, Fold or raise?
