As I said, when you put math to it, calling the turn is the most +EV play. If you look back youll see that I said Im pushing the turn even though it isnt the most correct play.
But it does 2 things. It stops him from being able to make another bluff that you cant call as happened here, and it puts the big decision on him instead of on you.
And yes, I call people down alot more than most people do. T-Rod and I are constantly talking about this.
Yesterday I played this hand......I raise to $7 with QJ from SB. BB calls.
Flop J63. I check / call $8
Turn 5. I check / call $22
River 7. I check / call $66 and my hand is good. he had AT.
The difference is that here the guy is overbetting the flop like some fool. Then he suddenly bets the turn for only 1/2 pot. I have no idea what hes doing. I dont know if his flop bet was a misclick or if he has TP no kicker. His turn bet is just as strange. At this point I still tihnk my hand is good but I would rather him be the one confused as to what to do so I would just push in and let him be the one put in a vice. My decisions are over.
