I don't slow play the lower boat because anyone with an ace is likely to call you anyway and you want to make them pay to outdraw you. Playing how you did, I don't see how you can get away with it because your whole stack is in there on the turn. You can't try to raise a reasonable amount to get a read because too much of your stack would be there and he could have AK and push it anyway.

By raising the flop, you make him commit a chunk of his stack when he's behind and if he doesn't fill on the turn, you can either get him to fold or commit all his money as a big underdog.

Since the big blind is $4, I assume the max buy in was $400. Why did you have so little? You should have reloaded because not having the full stack gives you no room to work on this pot without committing yourself. If you had more, you could make a raise on the flop and turn and not really commit everything but put plenty of pressure on your opponent.
