As to terminology, I'm not sure I really like ice's "reverse float" but like "donk" even less. I do think ice has a significant point that betting into the raiser with a weak hand OOP is structurally very similar to floating with position.

My main problem is the when. I don't think anyone is really suggesting that every time you've called a raise, you should bet into the raiser hit or miss OOP and float with position. That's obviously exploitable.

I also don't think the read that raiser is a TAG (or whatever read you want) is sufficient to warrant doing it every single time against this player.

I'd be interested to hear more about when (how often? what boards?... and both of these can be opponent-specific, so also... what read?) to make this play.

Here's what I've typically done up to now on the SCs (which are good hands for this kind of play, I think, and one can also do it on middle PPs that miss maybe) is, when I think my opponent has too much respect for my bets, I'll bet into the raiser when I hit flush draw (1/8) or straight draw (1/8) or any pair (1/3). So, given the read, I guess I'm going with about half of the time. This method also does give me outs against any but extremely strong hands.

I will say this: I've never really warmed up to the float play (not to say I've literally never done it, but it's never really been part of my strategy). So, with position vs. the same villain, I've always actually just raised the same range.

WOW. I started this thread 7 months ago.

I still like the idea in todays environment.

It works well against weak tighties and it works well against LGAs who will have J8s or Q9 lots of times and will miss lots of flops (or only have middle pair and will give up a decent percentage of the time).

As I said in the OP, if youre playing a good tricky player, I wouldnt try this.

a year ago I was the one that was exploitable by doing this against me. Now I'm the one doing it most of the time LOL.

Stealing the turn is great against guys that CB too much. Stealing the river takes a little more skill, but one key is to know when there is a card you can represent as having helped you (middle or bottom card pair up, or an overcard to the board, etc) on the Turn/River that scare someone that has TP or even an overpair, but make sure you know they can make laydowns!!!!!
