I certainly wouldn't advocate going all-in on the flop if you missed with AK. (although I did it today, but it was in a 4-bet pot)
Personally I make boatloads with AJ-AK on the button. You should be raising first in 100% of the time. If you are not first in, then raise or reraise most of the time, especially against loose opponents and especially against CO raises (be careful if raiser is UTG). AJ can be folded sometimes if a tight player has raised. Flat call occassionally to mix it up.

I'm sure better players have even better stats than that, but that should give you an idea of what type of results you should be getting if you are a winning player. However it does look like my BB/hand stats are above expectation, likely due to variance...or maybe I'm just that good?
