AA (general strat question for BTP)

Shove everytime and its not even close. If they fold JJ-QQ or may be AK thats fine as I am taking down a nice pot if he calls with KK well I am a 4-1 favorite.

It depends on the opponent and wether you 4bet shove AK in that spot, where obv you want QQ and JJ to fold.

Yes, but you need to consider what you do with your other big hands in that spot, such as AK. I think up to NL400 it is hard to go wrong by 4bet shoving AA/KK/AK against most opponents. Beyond that I am hearing murmurings of smallish 4bets to induce shoves and so forth...

What will you do if the flop comes J,Q,K ? You'll still call a shove or shove flop yourself, but then you'll be putting money when behind some of the time.. If I can stick it in with AA PF then I'd choose that option 100% of the time I think..

Red, for the purposes of this discussion, let's assume the flop is a rainbow ragged one. If we start getting into flop texture and player specifics we'll be here all day.

The main purpose of this debate is to try and draw a conclusion whether it's better in the long run to call or shove over a pre flop 4 bet in position.

Sem has it bang on by the way, if you 4 bet shove with AA, you have to do it with your other 3 bet range, or fold preflop. Not fold aces, fold TT-QQ and AQ+ or whatever your 3 bet range happens to be, suited connecters etc. I guess you could mix it up sure but I'm trying to keep it a little bit simple, like me.

This is why I prefer calling>>>>>shoving personally. It disguises the strength of your hand and will get the most value from other big pairs and AK.
