$25 PLO8 on Party. I just moved to this table after cleaning everyone out at the last one, courtesy of a flopped boat and 2 low chasers that called all in's and missed. I love Party sometimes....

Anyway, here is the action:

I am on the button with As 4s 5h 8d. 4 limpers to me and I limp along.

Flop comes Js Qs 9d. I plan on dumping the hand to any action until it checks around to me. There is a little over a buck in the pot so I take a stab at it for .75. I get 2 callers, unfortunately.

Turn comes 10s. I hit my flush and bet $3 (most of the pot) when it's checked around to me. Both players call.

River is a blank and it's checked to me. My first thought was to check it down. What's yours?

I would bet, but I would not call a reraise unless the player is a known wingnut .

At $25PLO8 at Party I would bet and get all in against any re-raise. Anyone has K9, well, I take my lumps :). On a bigger table I would bet out relatively small and call a raise against 99% of opponents, but never reopen the betting. Checking it down isn't so bad on a bigger, tighter table, as you're less likely to be paid off by a lower flush, but I'd also say the straight flush is less likely as better players are unlikely to risk giving a free showdown by checking the nuts. At PLO8 25, however, I really think you're giviing away too much by showing down free here. Plenty of people will call all sorts of garbage straights, flushes etc. in these games for you to let them away cheaply, I think.

The time when I don't open the betting with nut flush when there's a straight flush possible is when a decent player bets into me on the river; he either has the straight flush and I lose my stack or he has 2nd or 3rd nut flush and will probably fold, so I generally just call down then. I won a big pot recently with a J high straight flush against an opponent who made two horrible errors - not betting the turn when we both caught (and thus allowing any two pair or set a free river) and then re-raising me after I raised him on the end.

Guessing you bet, got raised, and lost a big pot to a straight flush. However, I think you played it correctly by doing so. It might've made your opponent look daft if you checked it down but I think it's giving these weak players too easy a ride.
