Villian is a regular at the 1/2 FR game. He is decent, doesnt like to fold overpairs though.

Stacks:

Villian: $225 (EP)

Villian raises to $7, and only I call with [4s]

Analysis:

I raised the flop as Villians range is AJ+,99+. That flop misses alot of his range so I raised to take it down there, He called so I put him on 99+, or two big spades. He woulda dropped any overs if he missed.

The turn I picked up some more outs, but he is not folding to a bet so i checked. The river is fairly easy as if he has missed spades I will take it down but he is not folding a better hand.

I think I bet the turn. Assuming villians range is just overpairs, we have like, 45% equity here, and if we put him on a wider range (including overcards like KQ) then we have 70% equity vs his range.

He could of course be on a higher flush draw himself, but I think we're looking for monsters under the bed.

I def bet the turn anyway. If you called the raise preflop surely this is exactly the sort of flop you're looking to try and get some money in the pot for when you hit your gazillion outs?

I think I play it just like you did. Turn bet is fine, but I prefer to check it in this spot.

If he has an overpair meaning you are behind...and he wont fold, why would you want to bet?

In general you dont want to put money in when youre behind unless theres some chance he will fold the better hand. Also, he may be about to check raise you all in.

Just check and take a free card at your million outs.
