Auto Rate Input Please

Postby StarlightCoast » Fri Jul 08, 2005 11:04 pm

If you use Poker Tracker and you use the auto rate your opponents option please give me your input.

I am having trouble deciding how I should auto rate players. This is what I have now and it is very limited.

VPIP 25% or less and PFR 7% or higher = tight/aggressive (I chose these numbers because in matthew Hilger's book it says something about percentage seeing the flop should be 15-25%)

VPIP 25% or lower and PFR 4% or lower = tight/passive

VPIP 25% or lower and PFR 7% or higher = tight/aggressive

VPIP 25% or higher and PFR 7% or higher = loose/aggressive

VPIP 25% or higher and PFR 4% or lower =loose/passive

VPIP 25% or less and PFR 4-7% = Tight/Medium

VPIP 25% or greater and PFR 4-7% = Loose/Medium

Should I have more defined numbers for my opponents and if so I would love some suggestions as to what they should be. I have no idea what values I should assign to a calling station because a calling station or I guess they are also known as a river chaser could be tight or loose just that they chase too much. Any suggestions would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.

What's wrong with the idea of not using all 14 categories?

I like VP$IP of 24% for the tight/loose break. Forget PF raise; if a guy raises PF, you can see from the GT+ stats if that’s anomalous. I use AF with 0-1 = passive, 1-1.5 = neutral, 1.5+ = aggressive. I throw in two priority items -- VP$IP > 35% for very loose and < 15% for very tight.

Any other info I'm interested in is in the stats displayed by GT+.

I got nothing against those who like a LOT of data. I’m just not one of those guys.

Not a thing. That's what's great about PT's autorating system--it doesn't force you into any one thinking. I've just found that my rules for limit, and excession and trodgers' rules for NL's use of 14 icons allows not only the tagging of solid players to avoid, but also the tagging of crappy players whose money you just have to take...
