(converter messed up here) Folds to me. I raise to $1. BB raises to $3.50, and I re-raise to $9.

I've been fairly active at the table with raising. No reads on BB. I also made this same play on another table where I was raising often:

I wasn't sure if this were the best way to handle these situations. I have a decent hand in both cases, but due to my image and the fact I'm opening from SB, I feel like I'm getting played back at far more often than other raises. If I call, I'm OOP, lost where I am in the hand, and make the decisions much more difficult.

Lacking strong reads on the BB, how do you handle these situations?

Sorry, left that out...I'd call the 3B with 77 if I had some info on BB.

So basically, by default, without some strong reads on a player, you'd give up 7's.

The more I look at the A4s hand, the less I like it.

77... dunno. I am simply unsure how to handle these situations. I think I should reserve these plays for when I have a better read on the player.

hah.. the more I look at the A4 hand, the more I like it..

if you only 4bet shove then you can't really have a very wide range of hands to do that with.. if you 4bet 2.5x the 3bet it gives you enough space to fold your 4bet bluffs without having to call a shove because of the odds and if you get shoved on when you have a great hand then your opponent is making a huge enough mistake that it makes it even more profitable.. imo..
