$1/$2 NL 6 max. BvB
SB raises to $6. I call in the BB with
[7c].
Pot $12. Flop
[3d][2s]. He bets $8. My normal play here is to raise. Why, you ask? He'll only call when hes ahead and I'll fold off everything I beat. I do agree with that if the guy is competant at all...BUT...I dont want to play a big pot here. I want to know right away if Im ahead or not.
I see alot of good players just call here, but when I do it it seems to get me in over my head every time.
In this hand I called. Turn was a K and he bet $20. Thats the perfect card form him to double barrell so i called again.
River was a 9 and he bet 3/4 pot or something. I folded as I doubt Im ahead unless hes a maniac.
It seems to me that all I did was to either let him bluff me or let him outdraw me. Post flop I called $28 before folding. Why not just raise the flop to $28 or a tad less?
If he has 88 or better he probably calls and I will most likely give up so it doesnt cost me anymore. If he has AK o KJ or whatever, he probably folds and I win the pot and dont allow him to outdraw me. I really dont see a downside to this besides not being able to call down a guy who might bluff his money away. I just dont really want to try to catch a multiple street bluff with TP only being a 7.
Thoughts?
