Do you make this call?

This one happened to me tonight and I wasn't sure what to do.

You are down to 6 in the BB holding and in 2nd place with 4440 chips (leader has 5180) and third place has 1815. Blinds are 50/100 when all fold to the button who goes all-in for 1135. SB folds.

My read on the button is that he has been staying alive with all-in blind steals.

Do you fold or call?

I'll post the outcome after we get some responses.

I would call... a lot of times the button is trying to steal, which means there's a pretty good chance he either has 1 over (an Ace or King) or a lower PP... either way, you're WAY ahead... And, at worst, he's got a higher PP, you lose, and you're still pretty comfortably in 2nd place...

TT against a LP steal from a short stack is a pretty easy call IMO. If you include any pair and any ace in his range of hands he'd push with in that position you have to make the call. You also have to add in the 5-10% chance he makes this move with any two cards when it's folded to him on the button. He's going to continue to push while on the button if you keep folding and what are the chances you'll be able to catch him again for such a cheap price with a hand as good as TT?

The key factor here is that you'd eliminate a player without putting yourself in danger. If you lose this hand you still have 30BBs to work with. As these SNG's get down to a few players the blind always get high and I think from a metagame POV you want this guy to be folding to you instead of pushing at you with the idea that you'll give up some hands in order to stay at a healthy stack size.

I imagine you lost the hand he had something like JJ or QQ so you are second guessing the call but with less than 10xBB this guy has a huge range and you simply can't be folding here without giving up way to much of the long run. Ask yourself if you'd call with AQ here? I bet you wouldn't think twice about it... TT is a better hand and thats the way you have to look at it.

Easy call if you have a read on him as stealing at all. I'd only consider folding against a rock here.

There are only 4 hands that beat you, JJ-AA. Most of the time you'll be a coin-flip against two overs, which is *great* since you're in a position to eliminate him while only risking 25% of your stack, and with the SB and BB already in the pot, added with your slight advantage, it's a pretty decent +EV anyway. The few times you completely own his lower PP or only one over-card, not to mention when he's got two unders trying to steal with 78s or something, definetely outweighs the occasional JJ-AA and means you'll do great in the long run.

Easy call.
