Comments on this AK hand NL100 slightly different line

This line is a little different than what might be a my normal line. My first instinct was to bet it but I had someone watching me and his suggestion was to check. I didn't see it as being a bad option mind you just not my normal line. I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this particular line. It may not generate much discussion but since it's not my normal line I'm just throwing it out there to see what you guys think.

Villain is pretty aggressive over a small sample and on a few tables with me. Stats are 23/20/3 over a 100 and change hands. He's CO I'm OTB. He has 123 BB and I cover. We tangled a little earlier on another table where I raised OTB he 3 bet from the small blind I 4 bet him and he folded.

Villain raises to 4 I 3 bet to 12 with [Kh] blinds fold and he calls. POT $25.5

Flop: [6s][8c] Check check

Turn: Villain checks I bet 19 and he calls POT $63.5

River: Villain checks Hero bet's $29.

If he's gonna call the river he'll call more.

Flop is fine imo.

I think the reasons for betting are pretty obvious, I'd be more interested in why you or your sweater think we should be checking.
