Microsoft service pack 1 causes boot comp to crash

after installing microsofts Serice pack 1 (sp1) my computer now won't work.

when booting i get

System halts in boot after installation SP1: !! 0xc0000034 !!

I checked the microsoft forums and apparently A lot of people are having this issue.

Anyone with computer savvy got a solid idea for what I should do.

So far, safe mode wont load, system restore doesnt ever finalize, system repair doesnt work.

and dont install sp1 the fact that MS releases something that causes computers to crash and wont answer in its own forums how to solve the problem is completely insane.

Is this on Vista? I think running Vista on a virtual machine is again the EULA -at least I think I read that.

You may have to just reinstall Vista.

basically, no.

Microsoft support was just like oh sorry why dont you reformat.

Dell support just sent me a vista reinstallation cd and ran some memory diagnostics.

On the microsft forums, no answer has been given for the problem.

It apprently is like dual core specific on laptops or w.e.

currently stuck reformating, and 60k of my coolest/most ballin hands are gone forever.

oh crap, I totally misread your post, I thought it said it caused problems with BOOT CAMP!. Sorry.

If you cant get into safe mode you are pretty much hosed. One thing do it to get a new HDD so you dont have to lose any data on your old drive.
