That sucks. Hopefully he was just having some problems and you get your cash back. If not, thankfully it wasn't a very large amount.
In the future though, make sure you get some personal details from people you send larger amounts of money to for staking, like a phone number or address in case this type of thing happens. Then you can send Xas after them to collect.
