Advantage: Playing more than one table helps keep you from itching to 'get involved' if you have less than an iron-willed discipline.
Disadvantage: Expanding on 'paying less attention', your read accuracy will go down, and you may miss an opportunity (or even misread the board, position, number of players in the hand, or forget who raised, etc) should a 'more interesting' hand occur simultaneously on another table.
