I figure Dudi for the straight but his weak lead on the turn was screaming that he hated the flush so I made a move at it. He thought for a LONG time and folded. Comments?

Raise the flop? I think the turn is an easy fold as he might only have trip aces but I won't be able to really know for sure.

I don't really know enough to comments on 1, 2, or 4. Here are my tyro comments:

Hand 3
I don't think you have the pot odds here to call. Only Qs or Ks gives you the flush without a chop with a low, and the str8 only adds 3 more outs (assuming you don't have to chop the high). In this situation, I think you would need more than 11 or 12 outs to scoop in order to call.

Hand 5
I wouldn't worry so much about the trip aces, as you have the second nut flush. That being said, your flush is only the second nut and there is always the possibility of a boat. As such, I have no clue how to play from here. My guess is that I would fold due to a lack of a low draw in my hand and distinctly non-nut high holdings. I might be tempted by the draw for the royal, but the odds aren't really there.

not a problem. Do you only play H/L? Either way, feel free to take a crack at these hands anyway.

I'm just in a hi/lo frame of mind now...

For Hand 3, I still dump it. You only have 7 totally clean outs to the nut flush (two of them pair the board) and 3 for the str8 -- that's about 22% or so to hit, right? Maybe a point or two higher. As such, it seems like you just miss having the pot odds to call. With so many people in the pot, I think it's safe to assume that someone has a boat draw.

Hand 5, I think that it's a read. If the guy goes crazy with trips and/or ignores flush potential on the board, then I might stay along. If the guy seems decent, I dump. PTO might be handy here. One option is to reraise (maybe min?). If he comes back at you, then the boat seems more likley. If he only has trips, he might dump it (then again, maybe not).

Hand 4, I like your play. A check raise makes it to easy for a flush draw to take a free card. How to play a reraise seems to be more of a read. If a weak players jams your raise, I would be tempted to go all-in. I don't think you can fear AA here, as plenty of donks will jam with a nut flush draw despite not having proper odds. If he seems to be solid, I am not really sure what I would do. I guess I would go with my read and wouldn't sweat it if I decided to play and he had the aces.

OK, I've got to go to bed -- this is making me sharky. Good hands for thought, though.

Hand 1: Pretty much like the way you played that, certainly don't see anything particularly wrong.

Hand 2: Played fine again. Odd play by your opponent.

Hand 3: You do the math!!! How many outs do you have, how many cards are left to see, and what % of the final pot do you have to call to get there?

Hand 4: Marginal call preflop, I bet the flop as you did. I don't mind dropping to a re-raise; surely they must either have AA or a huge draw, in one case you're a slim favourite, in the other you're dead, so overall unless the stacks are very shallow I have no qualms about dropping there. If the opponent is hyper-aggressive and/or dreadful I'm prepared to go to the felt, though.

Hand 5: Think you played it fine. No real reason to get cute here, it would be a shame to make a semi-bluff raise and then have to fold when he drives back at you with a pot-sized re-raise.

First, let me say that my comments are purely beginner, so take them for what they are. I look forward to the day that my comments are a lucid as Monk's.

For hand 5, Monk says the semi-bluff reraise invites trouble. Maybe this is a leak in my game. Is it that safe to say that Party PLO25 players wouldn't play trips this way (i.e., pot-size raise on the turn)? Would trips come back at me after a min-raise semi-bluff at this low of a level? I would consider a reraise here just to be a cost of doing business. If he comes back at me, then I know where I am at and fold. I know that I would be reluctant to bet back to a reraise with only trips and 3 cards to a flush on the board.

Anyway, I would put my money on Monk's analysis before mine any day -- clearly the nuances of PLO escape me. :?

A set would often come back over the top on hand 5 if I raise. Too many players overplay sets and its easier to keep track of people that play them cautiously than those that play it hard.

Hand 3 - 10 clean outs (straight and flush cards that don't pair the board). Assume I know that someone has a set so 42 unknown cards

10/42 = .238

I have to pay 9.60 into about 36 pot 9.60/36= 2.667

I am barely getting the odds to I guess it was a bad fold. It didn't hit this time so I'll live with it.

Monk, Hand 4 is too marginal to call a small raise?
