2 hands I folded - would have won both - Do I need to gamble

Postby jdavidk » Wed Aug 24, 2005 12:44 pm

Two hands from the same tournament here that I need some feedback on. Each hand I folded and each hand I would of won and would of won a whole bunch of chips, but I feel like in each situation I made the correct move. Do I need to loosen up a bit and gamble???

I did not have a read on Player 4 but I believe that is my own fault. He had been at this table for awhile and I just was not paying a lot of attention to the game (I think that is what happened) but, again, I was not putting just about all my chips in the pot preflop on a coin flip.

DO I need to “gamble” more. I have learned not to get “married” to AK but should I be calling with it preflop no matter what? Same thing with AQs.

Any input, as usual, is appreciated.

there is a difference between gambling and taking stupid risks. I would have folded both those hands.

Hand 1: I fold the initial time it comes around. There is a raise and a reraiser. Most likely, if you are beating one of them, you are losing to the other and your call doesn't close the action. I save that 2k in chips and jsut fold. They are both idiots with KQ so you'll get them later if they keep doing that. Normally one of them will have you in a bad spot.

Hand 2: The min raise may or may not be a monster (probably not) but then someone raises it big. They could be doing this with AJ-AK or a decent pair. You are behind a pair and the min raiser might have some of your outs. If there was just a raise and a call, I am more apt to push or reraise since only one person showed weak strength. Just fold and move on.

You can't be angry about folds that would have won pots because you made a good decision to lay it down. Being afraid to lay down a winning hand is what knocks people out of tourneys.

Yes both definite folds.

You can gamble with ak against one player but not 2. These guys were very loose to play like that and I hope you made notes.

You have nothing preflop you made good folds.

I would like to know where you played with 10 K starting chips I would love to play that.

Tom.
