I got lucky on this that the board paired so he only called but with my wrap straight draw, top pair and second to nut flush draw, I thought betting it would be best.

This was a bit marginal but I thought I had a decent amount of outs. Worked out for a little profit tonight.

Flush and straight outs and hit none. Would have been a big score but I'm fine with my play.

Hand 1 - I like your play. Was tough that he had a hand that had you in such trouble, usually here you're up against another draw and they either lose the stomach for the fight on the turn, or pass once the board pairs given that you've been repping a set all the way. Being aggressive like this against a weakish opponent beats the pants off playing passively, although it seems this guy had a bit much of a hand (and perhaps was also a bit too loose) to get out.

Hand 2 - I like your play a lot. I take the same approach I think, though betting out would be OK too. I think you've got too much to fold here, and I'm not necessarily believing that this flop has necessarily put the PFR ahead. Most likely he had a big wrap type hand and your aces are ahead, or (perhaps) there's just a sniff of a chance he has a set. Your two aces plus your flush outs still give you comfortably over a third of the equity though, so even in that scenario you're not in such a bad spot by pushing. It's a nice example of a good PLO "backup" hand whereby if you've made a mistake, it simply can't be a big one because of your "backup" outs. Small -EV situations are fine in this game now and again - it's the ones where you're crippled (middle set vs top set etc) that kill you.
